NW1 from Italian polishing experts Pai Cristal is one of the most advanced fast-cutting polishing compounds available. NW1 is recommended for hard materials, like epoxy and is capable of taking a surface to full gloss from a 1000 grit starting point.
Natural (light) colour version for general use or light coloured laminates/gelcoats.
Available to buy online in 100g, 500g and 1kg packs.
AVAILABILITY:More than 20 availablefor immediate shipping

This conventional natural white version of the NW1 compound is unpigmented and recommended for general use (all pattern and mould polishing) and use on white or light coloured components.
Pai Cristal NW1 White is a remarkably advanced 'super cutting' compound designed to offer very rapid cutting through to polishing of composite moulds and parts from P1200-1500 grit scratches up to a high gloss. NW1 can be used on new patterns or moulds or to restore faded or oxidised gelcoats on older moulds or parts.
NW1's unique cutting technology makes means that a wide range of composite gelcoats can be polished to a high gloss in reduced time, including harder gelcoats like vinylester and epoxy which traditional polishing compounds struggle to remove scratches, resulting in heat build-up and much longer polishing time.
NW1 uses advanced particle technology to result in a cutting compound which progresses from rapid, coarse cutting through to find finishing all from one compound. As polishing progresses, the cutting particles gradually break down, becoming smaller and smaller and allowing NW1 to take a mould from P1200 scratches through to a good level of gloss in a single compound.

How to Use
For best results, NW1 should be used with a variable speed polisher, selecting either an anti-scratch SL3 fine wool pad for a heavier cutting action or a medium-hard foam pad for a less aggressive one.
Apply a small quantity of compound on the polisher-pad or mop. Let the polisher turn at low revolutions, speeding them up (800-1500 RPM) while spreading the paste with crossed movements. Be careful to not overheat the surface of the mould or part. If heat starts to build up, reduce the speed or pressure or wait for the heat to dissipate.
If necessary, please repeat the application of the compound but always allow sufficient working of a new application to allow the compound to break down and transition from a cutting to a glossing action again.
Wipe the polished surface clean using a microfibre polishing cloth.
Further Finishing
Although NW1 can be considered a single stage polishing compound, if a very high level of gloss is required NW1 can be followed by Pai Cristal's TOPFINISH 2 'Nano' polishing compound which can be used to achieve ultra high gloss levels.

It's hard to say how much compound gets used when polishing because it rather depends on how many times you need to go forwards and backwards between compound and papers (often you find there are still scratches and need to go back to the papers again!). In really broad terms, which I think is all it's realistic to come up with, I would say that for a one-off project, even a large one like polishing a whole resin-coated table, then the smallest 100g packs would be sufficient. This would apply to both types of compound (NW1 and the TOPFINISH2).
If you're using compounds regularly, for example if you're making resin products as a business, then you would have either the 500g or 1kg packs in stock and work your way through them over a period of months, replacing when necessary. Certainly a 500g pack of NW1 would be more than enough compound for lots (maybe 10+) river tables, for example.
NW 1 does not contain silicon, waxes and other paint-bond inhibiting compounds.
As with every polishing compound, it contains some special lubricants to make the application polishing smooth and so for this reason it is important to clean/wipe the surface before applying the paint using something like mild soapy water or panel-wipe.
Once surface is clean and residues of polishing paste are removed, there will be no adhesion problem and no contamination. For most paint systems, the panel should actually be lightly keyed to further aid paint adhesion.
Yes, NW1 would be an excellent product for this, both for polyester and epoxy; you'll find that the polyester polishes faster and easier than the epoxy, just because epoxy is that much harder.
The other product to think about would be the TOPFINISH 2 which is an even finer cutting compound which will produce an even higher gloss. The two products work perfectly together, NW1 followed by TOPFINISH 2 would give you the ultimate polishing system for composite laminates like epoxy or polyester surfboards.
Hand application of NW1 is best done with a clean microfibre cloth to apply the compound and a second clean microfibre cloth to buff off.
Yes, the NW1 White polishing compound is compatible with all of the GlassCast range of epoxy surface and casting resins.
Our NW1 is suited to both hand and machine application making it a great all round polishing compound.
Yes we can ship this polish to the USA, along with many of our products.
The NW1 polish is absolutely great! With a little patience you can achieve an extremely high gloss. You only need very little of it and start at around 300-500 revolutions. Later you can turn up to 1500 revolutions and then you have a very clean shine.
