Manufactured from 316 stainless steel these Threaded stud fasteners have a threaded stud welded onto a 38mm by 15mm Rectangular baseplate. This makes them best suited to situations where the fastener will be bonded to the reverse of the laminate and fixed to by means of nut threaded onto the stud poking through the laminate. The rectangular baseplate makes these fasteners suited for applications close to the side of a part or where a flat surface is limited.
In situations where a threaded female collar is preferred, we also have our Blind threaded collar fastener and sighted threaded collar fastener to choose from.
How to Buy
Available in M5, M6 and M8 thread sizes. Please choose the thread size required from the drop-down list at the top of the page.

Why Use Bonding Fasteners?
In many situations, bonding fasteners are the recommended method of fixing to composite materials such as GRP/fibreglass, carbon fibre and other composite laminates. This is because composite laminates are weakened by drilling, are unsuitable for threading or tapping and are vulnerable to point-loading. Use of a bonding fastener facilitates fixing to the laminate often without drilling (retaining fibre continuity) and distributing the load over a wider area.
bigHead® bonding fasteners can be used in one of two ways; either by embedding within a laminate structure or surface bonding using a suitable adhesive such as our VM100 Black 10min Methacrylate Adhesive. Surface bonding can be either on the upper surface of the laminate, or for maximum strength the fastener can be bonded to the reverse of the laminate with the fastener passing through the laminating creating a clamping force.
The design of the perforated 'head' allows adhesive or resin to flow through the holes and locks the fastener into position, achieving high stability and strength.
About bigHead® Bonding Fasteners
All our bonding fasteners are genuine bigHead® products. bigHead® are recognised as world-leaders in the composite fastener market with their name being synonymous with the type of high quality 'big head' fasteners and fixings they supply into the composites industry, including top-marques in automotive and marine manufacture.

The overall thickness of the base plates on all of our BigHead fasteners is 1mm.
The thickness of the base is 1.2mm throughout the range of BigHead Fasteners we stock. The difference between blind and sighted threaded collars is only that the base plate is drilled through on the sighted fastener.
