6mm (4mm) Carbon Fibre Square Box Section 1000mm

Pultruded carbon fibre box section manufactured using high strength carbon fibre and an epoxy resin matrix for maximum performance. This small, square section profile measures 6mm outside, 4mm inside, leaving a 1mm wall thickness best suited to relatively lightweight applications such as R/C modelling, UAVs, automation and more.

Being a pultrusion, 100% of the fibres run length-ways down the length of the profile, providing maximum stiffness in this direction.

Sold in a 1m length.

Pultruded 6mm carbon fibre box section manufactured from 100% unidirectional carbon fibre.

The box section has an outer width of 6mm and a wall thickness of 1.0mm leaving an inner width of 4mm.

Our micro pultruded 6mm carbon fibre square tubes are only available in 1m (39") lengths.

Typical Uses

This tiny 0.75mm wall thickness box section is recommended for use in UAVs, quad copters/quad rotors, robotics and automation.

Further Information

Pultrusion Explained

Pultrusion is a method of manufacturing continuous lengths of fibre reinforced section (in this case box section) by pulling continuous strands of carbon fibre through resin and a former before curing the resin all in one process.

Pultruded sections feature 100% longitudinal fibre orientation which gives them excellent strength along their length but does make them vulnerable to crushing forces. Care should be taken when employing pultruded section to ensure that the fixing points which transfer the load to the section do so in such a way as to minimise any crush forces and distribute the load as much as possible.

The Box Section surface finish is the natural finish achieved during the pultrusion process which is smooth and has a low level of sheen. The Box Section does not, at this time, come in any other finish.

Many people prefer the natural finish of these carbon products, however if you wish to paint them for your specific application then you can do so. A light key with a fine abrasive paper like a 1200 grit wet and dry paper and a thorough degrease and clean using mild detergent or an alcohol wipe should be all that is needed to prepare the surface for paint.

This box section weighs 28g per meter length.

The 6mm box section has a measured diagonal of 7.6mm.
