50m reel of heavier 3220 dtex aramid filament yarn. Aramid fibre is a very high tenacity synthetic fibre with high tensile modulus, low density, excellent flex fatigue/abrasion resistance and a very high temperature tolerance. Although usually used to weave into aramid woven fabrics, aramid tow (as listed here) is also used to wrap around joints to provide very strong burst strength, cut into lengths and layered into laminate to provide localised unidirectional strength or a range of other specific jobs including filament winding and even artistic sculptures.
Our aramid yarn is the renowned Twaron® fibre manufactured by Teijin as a rival to Kevlar® and having almost identical properties. The yarn is supplied on a 50m spool. The yarn in this listing is 3220 decitex Twaron® 2200. A 3220 decitex yarn weighs 3.22kg per 10,000m.
